Employers hiring high-wage Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) must follow all TFWP rules, including offering full-time positions, paying the $1,000 LMIA processing fee, and ensuring wages match the prevailing rate. Recruitment must target Canadians and permanent residents through Job Bank and at least two other national methods, with records kept for six years. Employers cannot charge TFWs recruitment fees, must provide health and workplace safety coverage, and give a signed employment agreement. New employers and those hiring high-wage positions must submit a transition plan to reduce reliance on TFWs. Compliance ensures legal hiring, fair treatment, and protection under Canadian labour laws.

Nova Scotia is prioritizing workers in healthcare, social assistance, and construction with permits expiring in 2025. International applicants in these sectors are also prioritized, while most other applications will not be processed. Some exceptions apply for trucking, science and technology, clean energy, and resource development under the Atlantic Immigration Program. In 2026, the same sectors will remain the focus. Meeting criteria does not guarantee approval, and applicants must maintain legal status in Canada and report any changes to their status or job.

Workforce Partnership grants help Alberta organizations—businesses, non-profits, Indigenous groups, and municipalities—develop strategies to attract, retain, and support workers. Projects can focus on researching labour market trends, planning for future skills, or testing workforce development initiatives. The program prioritizes building a resilient workforce, supporting diverse participation, and boosting regional and provincial economic growth. Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis through the appropriate program contacts.-
